This is not unlike the argument that was made against television and music. In fact, it's partially why video games come with an age/maturity rating. I don't think this is a surprise, and it may well explain otherwise irrational behaviors to parents, children, teachers, and health care professionals. The fact that what we see, what we hear, and what we experience desensitizes us, it would stand to reason that a person that plays violent video games, even infrequently, would have a higher propensity to violent acts. I don't think it takes a mental health professional to come to that conclusion.
