‘Eli Stone’ causes controversy

I’m a little late to all the fuss caused by tomorrow’s series premiere of “Eli Stone,” about a vision-seeing lawyer (Jonny Lee Miller) who thinks he might be a modern-day prophet. But the spiritual bent to the new show isn’t the problem.

Why I Find No Joy In Autism

There are those who argue we should find joy in autism, we should view our child's autism as part of who he is and not try to cure him of his autism. Such reasoning is absurd. Not just wrong but absurd. Self injurious behavior, such as the biting shown above is one major reason why I feel that the joy of autism philosophy is perverse nonsense

Video - Living With Autism

This is dedicated to all of the families that are living with autism.

We understand the amount of care and enduring love that it takes for families how have autistic children.

With the lack of resources available to these families...this only adds to the stress in their lives.

We at Awareness Media would like the public to know just how serious Autism is in America.....here's a few stats.

- More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than AIDS, Diabetes and Cancer combined.

Leukemia - 1 child out of 25,000
Funded annually: $310 mill

Muscular Dystrophy - 1 child out of 20,000
Funded annually: $175 mill.

Pediatric AIDS - 1 child out of 8,000
Funded annually: $394 mill.

Juvenile Diabetes - 1 child out of 500
Funded annually: $130 mill.

Autism - 1 child out of 166
Funded annually: $100 mill.

As you see, there clearly is a need for more monies allocated towards the research for Autism.

In closing, our hearts go out to all of those who are currently have children affected by autism, (as well as those to come).

Please...volunteer, donate...or just speak out about autism...many families will appreciate all that you do.

Sincerely,
BRICK CASEY

Video - What is Autism? A Psychological View

This is nice little video that explains in plain language what autism is, and some of the different forms of autism. It's a slide show basically set to music of Lee Ann Womack performing I Hope You Dance. The slides move a little faster than I like, but I might just be a slow reader. There's allot of good information, including the first known autism cases, possible causes, statistics, and parental concerns. Enjoy!
